OUR TRIOS DOWN TO TWO!

I think I did learn the objectives that were in the syllabus but I didn’t learn what I had hoped to learn in the class. I will still work on the shape of the face, hands, and feet because those are the hardest things for me.

I have definitely improved even more in the number of lines I use for cross contour. I started doing a billion and now I think I have a good amount. I think I have gotten better at making lighter lines in gesture drawings because I couldn’t get a good picture of some of the gestures. So that must mean they were light. I think that I got better in the last shell trying to get the angle down. It was hard to get the shell to look like it was going back in space not pointing up. I think that everything that was said on the midterm was fine. I just don’t think that so much emphasis should be put on the mannequin being smooth. I would sit forever trying to smooth it and nothing would really help. It should just matter that the muscles are right. I will use what I learned in the class for personal uses but not for my major. I just like to draw on my own time and I think it will just help to know things in other fields then the computer stuff.

let me know if the link doesnt work.

woah! is that my drawing......why yes it is!

so one of the days that we drew skulls we were also talking about our shell drawings. i was spinning around in a chair and saw this drawing and i really liked it. i thought to myself thats a cool drawing who did that. it took a couple more turns to remember that that was my drawing! i was proud.
i think the skulls really helped me. i wish we would have started on the skull a little earlier. since now we have to do a self portrait it would have been nice to draw someone's face right after doing these drawings to test what i learned.
so wish me luck on my self portrait. :)

I used to be a hand model didnt you know.....

there was a day that we just did hands. it was super hard but it kind of helped. it helped in finding the angles of the fingers and knuckles and making sure the hands dont look disfigured. i kind of wished that we had done this with the actual models cause they know how to hold still better. and we would have been able to do longer hand drawings. the person modeling didnt want to stay still for more then ten mins.

Natalie still runs LA!

This is Natalie almost done. i dont think its done in this pic. i hope not cause im not liking what i am seeing so far.......
doing these mannequins has helped a little bit for drawing people. pretty much only the main ones that you see on almost everyone are the ones that helped the rest were mean little things that didnt match the ones in the book. and they were just frustrating.

Crooked Moss

This is my third shell. it was just bad all around. the lines were wrong but i didnt know how to fix it and i didnt leave any white space of the paper. i just went over it with white conte. i didnt even think of leaving any of the paper color when i did the ink wash. i liked the green that i chose :)

Sketchy sketch sketch

I havent really had anything to write about for a couple weeks. I have been taking pictures though. And i have decided that since i can't figure out if, week by week, i am learning anything worth writing then i will talk about my drawings and see if any magic epiphany happens :)
This is my second shell drawing. i liked it. the angle wasnt as good as i wanted it. compared to my other shell the amount of lines has gotten WAY better. i used to do a billion lines.
